The Red House Mystery by A. A. MilneGenre: Crime Fiction, Mystery
When we say A. A Milne, we invariably remember the cute, cuddly Winnie-the-Pooh Bear! But it will surprise many to know that Milne wrote a whole different world of reads much before he turned to writing children's books. His earlier writing ranged from contributing humourous pieces to a literary magazine to writing plays to a trio of novels! Among these is The Red House Mystery, a locked-room whodunit. Written in his characteristic style, this is the only mystery novel Milne ever wrote. A must read if you have loved Winnie-the-Pooh as a child (who hasn't!) and if you love reading mysteries. You are wondering why this book is included in this list? Well, we did promise you books written for adults, didn't we? Verne's adventure novels have always been great reads, although, poor early English translations ended up wrongly characterizing them as juvenile fiction. So here we bring you, the fastidious Phileas Fogg, who makes a rash bet at his club: to circumnavigate the planet in eighty days! With his honour on the line, will Fogg win his bet? Pick up the book to find out! A must read for adventure enthusiasts and everyone looking for a good, engaging read.

R. K. Narayan is one of the prolific writers of India who has regaled readers of all ages for generations!
