The unputdownable weekend reading list!

There are books and then there are books that get your attention with the first sentence and never let you go till you have turned the last page! Today we thought of giving you the list of books that are in the later category. Books so interesting that they will have you turning pages through the night!
There are all sorts of books in this category - crime, drama, even humour - but today we have for you, book that read like movie scripts! Fast - paced, witty, challenging, and enlightening are just a few adjectives that we can use for these books. Of course there are more, but we leave you to be the judge of that :)

So here's our list of the latest unputdownable books of 2015 so far:

1) The Martian by Andy Weir

This is the story of an astronaut stranded on Mars after a mission gone wrong. The movie is already out; and we are sure most of you have already seen the movie. So the natural question then, is why read the book, right? Well, we will tell you, that there are several reasons for this. For starters, the book is always better. And no, we are not saying this just because we are readers and book lovers. But most importantly, although the movie is a visual treat in this case, the wit and the ease with which things are explained in the book make this a must read! There are several points that are clearer when read, that are unexplained in the movie, due to time constraints. You see, the movie just gives us the what and the how, but the book, as they say, tackles the most important "why."

So we recommend you pick up a copy and get reading this cool thing! And if you have already watched the movie, then even more so!

2) Make Me by Lee Child

Jack Reacher is an unlikely hero. He has no attachments, no family, no home and nowhere to go. He doesn't work for anyone and does not wish to meet with anyone. On his journey to nowhere, he decides to take a stop-over for the night. The plan is to get off the train, check into a motel, have a good dinner and a sound sleep. He plans to be on the morning train out. But then he meets a private investigator and his plans change. A book that begins thus, goes on to deliver an amazing cat and mouse chase that ends in a cracker of a climax!
Lee Child is the master of crime fiction and his hero Jack Reacher has enthralled his fans for a long time now. His popularity only increased after the 2012 movie Jack Reacher came out starring Tom Cruise. Even so, with this latest offering, Child has given us a story that is so worth making a movie out of; and believe us when we say this, it will be nothing short of a blockbuster!

3)  The Curse of Surya by Dev Prasad

This is a lovely read, about a beautiful reporter inadvertently caught in the chase and the search for a jewel that was lost five thousand years ago. But finding it is obviously no easy job. On the way, she teams up with two people. Both men are charming, interesting and seemingly harmless; but only one of them is genuine. From the beginning, the book takes hold of you and doesn't let go till you have turned the last page.
Most readers and movie goers are familiar with Dan Brown and his work where the protagonists have to solve a series of complex cryptic codes to reach the holy grail. With The Curse of Surya, we have an Indian author delivering the same suspenseful thrill. What's interesting and takes away full marks, is that the author gives us a detailed and well-researched history of Krishna and his times, including the legends surrounding his rule as a king and his submerged kingdom. Our verdict ? We love it!

4) The Girl on The Train by Paula Hawkins

Enough has been said about this bestselling book and truth be told, there is no other way to describe it, other than as "unputdownable!"
A deceptively simple start - a drunk divorcee travellling by train everyday, passing the same houses on the side of the tracks, observing the same people; and trying to make up their imagined lives and stories - takes us into a psychological thriller that reminds us of Gone Girl
The book is full of twists that readers just don't see coming! Just as we think we know what is about to happen now, we are faced with an impossible situation! Just as we start drawing conclusions and start believing that we are right about them, we are presented a completely new set of facts; and then our theory goes right out the window! A must - read that is equal parts riveting and suspenseful.

5) Memory Man by David Baldacci

This is an engaging story of an ex-cop who has a rare medical condition caused by a head injury during his first and only pro football game. Because of this condition, he cannot forget anything. Yes, anything! Even the smallest of the details and the biggest of the facts are all there, floating around in his head....and what's more, he sees certain numbers and memories in certain specific colours. And if this wasn't disconcerting enough, his family was murdered and he was the one to find them and call the cops; and he can never forget what he saw, because of his condition!
Baldacci has given us may unforgettable characters and in Memory Man, he introduces us to yet another exceptional character - Amos Decker! Our verdict? We loved Amos, we loved his story; and we are looking forward to more!

And that brings us to the end of this list of unputdownable books that will not let you rest till you have reached the very end! But you could let us know what captivating books you have read lately, in the comments section!

Till then. happy reading!!
