When God Was A Rabbit - Book Review

When it comes to books, we all have our favourites. We love certain genres and we know what we are getting into when we start a new book.

So then what happens when you pick up a title randomly from your Pinterest feed without knowing anything about the story or the author? (And what’s more, there’s hardly a blurb at the back!)
Well, you get sucked right into a wonderful, heart touching story (and even shed a tear or two, ahem), that’s what!

When God Was a Rabbit is a book that starts out so unassuming and unconventional, you almost see it going nowhere. And yet, you cannot let go. You just have to keep reading. No matter you have deadlines, or children who need your attention - you just have to read on because you cannot just stop! You cannot NOT know!

And by the time you reach about two thirds of the book, and you think you know where this is going (or not going) and look at the rest of the pages and wonder what could possibly be in there - that is when the twist in the tale comes! And it blindsides you! It makes you gasp in horror because now you are so invested in this seemingly unassuming tale!

A superb cast of characters that will stay with you forever and a wonderfully honest narrator you end up feeling deeply for. They keep you turning pages. And the atmosphere of the book is something you carry with you for a long time to come.

There is very less ‘routine’ about this book. Very less ‘normal’. What’s there is raw and poignant and pertinent; and brutally honest.

An out-of-the-ordinary read that would be great for anyone who enjoys a good story, who loves and understands family and for everyone who has loved and lost, but not given up hope.
